NATIONAL SUBMARINE DAY. Which I’m sure that anyone in the Navy or those who like ships that go underwater will be happy to celebrate the true meaning of. But for us land lovers, We will celebrate the other Sub. The Submarine Sandwich.
Yep, that foot long meat and veggie filled sandwich that totally fills us up and makes our day. Many different names are attached to them describing what is in them. Yet others get more creative and make the names unique. Here are just a few.
- The Gut buster
- The Hook and ladder (fully engulfed or not)
- The stroke maker
- The widow maker
- The code blue
- The Triple bypass
There are too many to list here but they are some of my favorites. And guaranteed to be much tastier than the food served on actual subs. And of course these do not come with a bunch of young men and a commander.
But they will come with just about every meat you can think of. One of my personal favorites is the ‘Beaver Buster’. I found that one at a small diner in Montana. Of course when i read the name on the menu I could not help but think of something else and what I didn’t have to do the job.
But it was made with real beaver. And it was topped with leaks to represent trees. NATIONAL SUBMARINE DAY is the day to eat beaver…. or whatever is on your sub
